Summer is right around the corner (finally) and that means it’s time for a refreshing drink! Keep your “refreshing” healthy this summer with this Protein Low Sugar Lemonade recipe. This protein lemonade is packed with flavor, has almost no sugar, and is just as refreshing as the unhealthy alternative!
I don’t know about you all but 2 things I can’t drink unless it’s over 70F degrees? Iced coffee and LEMONADE.
Lemonade is almost always packed with sugar and that’s why we’re changing that today!
Protein Low Sugar Lemonade
For this protein lemonade you’ll need 1/4 cup of some hot water and 1 or 2 tablespoons of your choice sweetener. I’ve like erythritol lately (keto friendly) but all of them work great.
Why hot water? This is used to easily dissolve your sweetener. If you know your sweetener will dissolve regardless then cold water is fine here.
Mix your hot water and sweetener together until your sweetener is dissolved.
Next, you need the juice of 2 lemons. If you’re a pro, have a lot of built up anger, or train grip strength then you can probably juice them with your hands.
I prefer to use a lemon squeezer like this one. No mess, easy to clean, and no need to worry about the seeds.
Pro tip? Use a strainer to catch the seeds if you’re juicing with your hands.
This next part is where you choose what kind of protein low sugar lemonade you want:
- Regular? Add everything into a pitcher.
- Slushy? Add everything into a blender.
In your blender or pitcher add the juice of those lemons, your sugar water mix, 3/4 cup of cold water, 1 scoop of protein powder, and some ice. Use a bit more ice if you’re using a blender.
I use almost always use vanilla flavored protein powder for this recipe but unflavored works great too. As long as the flavor compliments the lemon flavor, you’ll be good to go.
Mix or blend everything together.
If you used a blender then pour your final product into a pitcher and add in a couple lemon slices.
Serve it and have a healthy cheers to warmer weather!
