The Best Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

1 Pint281 cals

Ice cream has always been that little diet devil on my shoulder until 2021, when Ninja released their original Ninja Creami. If you have one, you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, maybe this post will convince you! It might be the loudest appliance ever made, but you can eat protein ice cream every single day without the guilt. Here are some of The Best Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream recipes I’ve made to date!

To start this one you’re obviously going to need a Ninja Creami. I still have the original one (works great), there’s a better one out now. I think the results of these recipes I have in here will speak to my review of this thing. In my opinion, anyone who likes ice cream should have one of these. If for some reason you don’t know where to find one, I’ll link to the newer Creami below in the recipe card if you’d like to check it out.

Moving onto our first Ninja Creami recipe, take out your Creami container. We’re going to prep the mix right inside it, no mixing bowl needed. Keep in mind that these are all kind of “base” recipes which we’ll talk more about at the end.

Ninja Creami Fairlife Ice Cream

This first recipe is the one I personally make the most. It’s simple and quick to prep. All you need? A bottle or 12 ounces of a ready to drink protein shake. I’m using a chocolate Fairlife today though any RTD (ready to drink protein shake) will work, at least all the ones I’ve tried. Continue with 3 ounces of a Greek yogurt, and 2 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter.

If you want it even creamier you can add in 2 tablespoons of an instant pudding mix, 10 grams of unflavored collagen powder, or 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of guar or xanthan gum. I almost never add this in and I’m always happy with the result so don’t feel like you need this to make it good.

To mix everything, I use a cheap battery operated frother. I’ve had the same one for years which I’ll also link to below in the recipe card.

Put it off to the side for 5-10 minutes to “rest”, then cover it and put into the freezer overnight.

Pro tip for this one? You can mix and match your RTD and Greek yogurt flavors to really switch it up.

Ninja Creami Greek Yogurt Ice Cream

For our next recipe, you’ll need 1 1/4 cups of a Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup of milk or milk substitute (think almond or coconut), 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 1/2 scoops of optional protein powder. I say optional because it’s not needed in any of these recipes which we’ll talk more about later. If you’re using protein powder, make sure to use a flavor that compliments the Greek yogurt flavor you use.

Mix those ingredients together until smooth. This recipe is a little thicker so it might be easier to mix it with a spoon!

Put it off to the side for 5-10 minutes to rest, then cover it and put into the freezer overnight.

Before we move onto the next recipe, I’ll say this. If you like ice cream like I do, you can easily justify the price of this thing when you factor in how much healthier alternatives to ice cream cost ($5.00-$7.00 per pint). It’ll pay for itself real quick while also having endless options that are in my opinion, way better.

Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

This recipe is likely the cheapest you can make out of the bunch. You’ll need 12 ounces of milk or milk substitute, 1 1/2 scoops of protein powder, 10 grams of cocoa powder if you want chocolate, some optional sweetener, and 2 tablespoons of an instant pudding mix.

What’s a good sweetener? Honey, stevia, brown rice or maple syrup, your protein powder (if it’s sweet!), or whatever will fit your macros that day.

Mix everything together.

Put it off to the side for 5-10 minutes to rest, then cover it and put it into the freezer overnight.

Make It Creamier

As we talked about earlier, to make it creamier you have multiple options and all of them work great! If you have another option that’s not listed here, drop it below so I can add it. Here’s a list of my favorite ones I’ve used with success.

  • 2 Tablespoons Instant Pudding Mix. You can use an unflavored one or pick a flavor that works with the other flavors in the recipe.
  • 10g Unflavored Collagen Powder. This is the most expensive option here however it’s fairly easy to find nowadays and comes with a host of other benefits.
  • 1/4-1/2 Teaspoon Guar Gum. Start off at the lower end if you’re using a pint and add more as needed.
  • 1/4-1/2 Teaspoon Xanthan Gum. The same as guar above, start off at the lower end. You’ll see it continue to thicken up as you introduce more.

Another way to make this Ninja Creami protein ice cream creamier is to use higher fat ingredients. Full fat milk, Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese!

Ninja Cream Cottage Cheese Protein Ice Cream

For our last recipe we can’t forget our good friend…cottage cheese. You can also make this one right in your Creami container if you don’t mind the cottage cheese texture. If you do mind and would like it “smooth” (my preference) you should first mix it in a food processor or blender.

To do this you’ll need 1 1/2 cups of cottage cheese, 1/2 cup of milk or milk substitute, 2 tablespoons of an instant pudding mix, and some sweetener. I went with a tablespoon of honey.

Mix, bend, or process everything together and pour it into your Creami container.

Can you guess the next steps yet? Put it off to the side for 5-10 minutes to rest, then cover it and put it into the freezer overnight.

Our last step is upon us. Take out your frozen pint of future macro friendly Ninja Creami protein ice cream and either let it unthaw for 10 minutes or run some hot water over it before placing it into your Ninja Creami.

Find your hearing protection and hit the lite ice cream button. I’m kidding by the way, you don’t actually need hearing protection. It does sound like an airplane taking off though!

After that first run is done, add in 1-2 ounces of a milk or milk substitute and hit the re-spin button. You should only need to do this once though if it doesn’t look/have the texture of ice cream after re-spinning it, you can re-spin it again without adding any milk/substitute in.

Here’s the part where you can eat it as is or use a mix-in to add some more flavor and texture to your Ninja Creami protein ice cream. Mix-ins I like using? Nuts, graham crackers, an Oreo, random cookies, fruit, chocolate chips, and so on. Let me know some of your favorite mix-ins below so I can try them!

Whatever it is you choose to use, if anything at all, crush it up, push it in, and tap that mix-in button.

Ninja Creami Combinations

  • Banana Greek Yogurt, Chocolate Protein Powder, Banana Instant Pudding Mix
  • Red Velvet Greek Yogurt, Chocolate Protein Powder, Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix
  • Salted Caramel Greek Yogurt, Vanilla Protein Powder, Cheesecake Instant Pudding Mix
  • Pistachio Greek Yogurt, Vanilla Protein Powder, Pistachio Instant Pudding Mix
  • Strawberry Greek Yogurt, Banana Protein Powder, White Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix

To add more flavor outside of these combinations or sweeteners you can use cocoa powder for chocolate and vanilla extract/powder for vanilla.

Our Best Ninja Creami Tips

  1. Make sure you freeze them on a level service.
  2. The higher in fat your ingredients are, the creamier it’ll be.
  3. Don’t fill your containers above the max fill line. You can be below it, but never over it. All of these recipes should be below it if you’re using the pint size containers.
  4. Try new flavors and mix-ins! This thing is super fun to experiment with.

Used recipe one and it was great! But it was over the max fill line so I will have to adjust next time to track it accurately.

Try using the chocolate Fairlife shake, with fudge sf pudding and adding some quality dark cocoa powder. You will need a little sweetener if you go with a really high cacao but it makes some dark chocolate protein ice cream that feels really, really indulgent.

I’ve been eating Keto for several years now and have missed my ice cream. I bought the Ninji Creami Deluxe and been having fun with it.
I use heavy whipping cream, Allulose sweetener, and Tera Gum for my base. Then add whatever mix-in that is sugar free or low carb. I can keep my carbs below 5 grams per serving. Guilt free.

Recipes are great! Thank you for sharing! One thing I did notice. In the cottage cheese recipe you say to let it ‘unthaw’ for 10 mins. If you are ‘unthawing’’ something, wouldn’t you be freezing it? I know others who use this word but I think you mean thaw. 😊🤷🏻‍♀️❤️

I put cottage cheese in all my ice creams while mixing it in the Creami container with an immersion blender. Works very well.
