Put pie back on the menu this holiday season with a healthy Apple Pie Protein Shake! This seasonal drink recipe is packed with fiber, made with just a few ingredients, and guaranteed to satisfy.
Add right into a blender 1 cup of unsweetened milk substitute or fat free milk, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 scoop of a vanilla protein powder, 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal, 1/4 cup of unsweetened apple sauce, 1/4 cup of fat free cottage cheese, 1 medium chopped up apple, and 1 cup of ice.
If you use a frozen apple you can use less or no ice at all.
Did you know that flaxseed meal is a great way to get some extra healthy fats and fiber in your diet?
Blend all of those ingredients together until you have your apple pie protein shake.
The cottage cheese is going to add casein protein to the recipe and help thicken up your shake so it’s more like a milkshake, you can’t taste it at all.
Diet tip? Leave the skin on your apple for even more fiber.
Pour your shake into your favorite glass and optionally top it. I went with a couple slices of an apple and some ground cinnamon today. Let us know your favorite ways to top this seasonal shake in the comments below.
