Easy Protein Espresso

Welcome to, The Protein Barista! If you liked our Iced Protein Coffee or just like all things coffee in general (me) then you’re going to love this Easy Protein Espresso recipe! This one is quick, delicious, and only needs a few ingredients.

What I’m about to show you here I’d like to think of as more of a “time saving life pro tip” that’s just delicious rather than a recipe.

First, you’ll need a couple things for this protein espresso starting with whole bean coffee that you’re going to grind and something to make your espresso with.

Yes, you could also just use ground coffee too but know this, buying ground is kind of like walking into a movie and just watching the ending. You have no idea what you’re missing by not grinding your coffee yourself!

With that said, go ahead and tamp down your ground coffee into your portafilter. Whether you make a single or double will depend on how much caffeine you want/how caffeine sensitive you are! I’m a risk taker so we’re doing a double today.

Boom, your espresso is ready!

Next up, mix together 4 ounces of a milk or milk substitute, a scoop of protein powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or 2 tablespoons of some cocoa powder for a chocolate flavor, and a little optional honey if you want a bit of sweetness.

Add your mix to your espresso and let the protein espresso magic happen inside of you!

You can easily change up the flavor by using whatever flavor protein you want as long as it compliments the coffee flavor. Vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon bun, and so on. Let me know some of the variations you try below.

Protein Espresso Machine

For most of you, the hardest part of this protein espresso recipe will be making the espresso. Though this espresso machine that I use in the video here cost a few hundred dollars, it literally has everything you need and will last you years of daily use. I’ve made THOUSANDS of shots in mine.

Basically, it’s worth the investment if you like coffee. Those $3.00 double shots add up quick at your local coffee shop!

If it’s not in your budget to buy a huge machine, don’t worry. Before I caved for this machine I was using all manual stuff like this Aeropress and manual coffee grinder.
