Chocolate Protein Spread

Have you been looking for a healthy or low fat chocolate peanut butter alternative? How about a Chocolate Protein Spread!? This high protein recipe is quick to make, delicious, and goes great on almost EVERYTHING!

For this recipe you’re going to need a food processor like this one (I’ve had mine for almost a decade) or a really powerful blender. This will be used to process or blend your beans until smooth. Could use a hand mixer? Maybe…with enough effort.

Start by draining and rinsing 1 can of black beans. Rinsing them will help with the flavor so don’t skip this step and make sure to rinse them good!

Chocolate Protein Spread

Add your black beans right into your food processor or blender followed by 3 scoops of a chocolate protein powder, 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/4 cup of rolled oats, 1/4 cup of unsweetened vanilla (or chocolate if you can find it) milk substitute, and 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup.

Process or blend everything together until your chocolate protein spread forms.

Did you know that cocoa powder is a great way to add chocolate flavor to a recipe while having only 1g of net carbs per serving?

Add your mix into some mason jar(s) and top them with whatever you want! You can add in chopped nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruit, and so on. Think outside the box and get creative with your creations!

You can use this chocolate protein spread with pretty much anything! Add it into Greek yogurt or cottage cheese, use it on fresh fruit, in a sandwich, with toasted bread, crackers, rice cakes, or other high protein desserts!

Some of my favorite ways to use this spread? On our Chocolate Explosion Protein Cheesecake or our Fluffy Cottage Cheese Pancakes!
