Sriracha Tuna Cakes

Looking for a quick, cheap, and spicy high protein recipe made with canned tuna? Try some Sriracha Tuna Cakes! This easy recipe takes just a few minutes to prep and is easy to change up when you’re bored.

Add right into a mixing bowl 1/3 cup of bread crumbs, 2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper, 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning, 3-4 servings of some chili sauce (more or less depending on how spicy you want them), 4 tablespoons of fat free mayonnaise, and 2 cans of drained tuna.

Mix all of those ingredients together until everything is well incorporated.

Some other ways to switch these tuna cakes up when you’re bored?

  • With spices or seasonings
  • By adding in some chopped vegetables like celery for crunch, red onion, and so on

Shape your cakes however big you want them, I made 2 Sriracha tuna cakes today.

You can eat these right now as is since canned tuna has already been cooked or heat them up on the stovetop (my preference).

To heat them up on the stovetop you’ll need to take out a stovetop pan, turn your burner on low-medium heat, and coat your pan with some non-stick cooking spray.

Place your Sriracha tuna cakes into your pan and cook each side for around 2-3 minutes. Keep in mind that depending on how big or small you made them that this time may change.

Optionally top them with cheese and some condiments like guacamole and salsa!

Ready for dessert? How about a Microwave Protein Whoopie Pie?

Derek, love the recipe. Been looking for a great way to incorporate cheap tuna into my diet and I love crap cakes + siracha!

Do you think I’d be able to substitute wheat germ for bread crumbs in this recipe? Just trying to keep it healthy as possible.

Keep up the great work man love it.

Hi Matt! Thank you. You can definitely do that!

Hi Derek, my family liked the cakes when we made them. Thank you for the recipe!

I have also made the quick protein bars, protein cheesecake, and sriracha chicken nuggets, and my family has loved every one! I look forward to trying out new recipes on this website. You’re the best!

I made these today for lunch and we loved them! I didn’t have breadcrumbs so I used cornmeal and also added some fresh lemon juice to it! Amazing! Thank you for sharing! It is definitely going into my cooking rotation!

Amazeballs. Again I came here because I had frozen chicken, canned chicken, and canned tuna as my lean proteins. Going to thaw the chicken and hit up the baked garlic chicken next, last can of chicken so I should hang onto that, so that left me with tuna. Played the “what would Derek do” game and came out happy. Couldn’t have been easier or better.

By the way, you beat Alton Brown on this one. His tuna cakes are good, but not nearly as good as these. Yours are easier too.

    Thanks again!

Is there something I can use in place of bread crumbs that would be clean? I am dieting for a competition and I want to make these without compromising my diet. thanks 🙂

Oat flour/shredded rolled oats! No problem – thank you for the comment!

These = awesome. I’m going to try the mustard instead of mayo sometime this week.

Made these today, used 1 egg and some mustard to substitute the mayo. Turned out really good!!
