Remove the guilt and keep cake in your diet with an easy :90 Second Protein Whey Cake! This microwave cake recipe is not only quick but it’s made with simple ingredients you probably already have and is absolutely delicious!
Start this one with a bowl big enough to mix your ingredients and a microwavable bowl in the shape of the protein whey cake you want.
Add into your mixing bowl 1 1/2 scoops of your choice flavor protein powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, 1 packet of your choice sweetener, 1 1/4 servings just add water pancake mix, and 3-4 some water.
If your protein powder flavor doesn’t pair well with a chocolate flavor then you’ll want to opt out of using the cocoa powder.
Mix your ingredients together while slowly adding in your water until everything is smooth (no chunks left). You don’t want your mix to be too watered down so keep an eye on it as you mix it and stop adding in your water before it “thins” out too much.
Coat your microwavable bowl with some non-stick cooking spray and pour your mix in.
Microwave Time
Microwave your protein whey cake for 1-2 minutes (:90 seconds for me) or until it rises. Remember that your microwave time can change depending on how powerful your microwave is.
Remove your protein whey cake from the microwave, let it cool, and flip it over onto a plate. If you did it right, it should pop right out with ease.
Now is the part where you can satisfy your cravings and dive in or optionally top it. I topped mine with some peanut butter, whipped topping, and sugar free chocolate chips today. Let us know what creative and healthy toppings you top yours with in the comments below!

Hi Derek! your recipes are AWESOME!! they are making my life easier with my diets in cutting! now I have a problem, my microwave just broke and I have now only the oven! Can I use this recipe and use the oven? how many time? how many degrees? please help me 🙁
Hi carlos! I’ve never made this one in the oven but you could try it on 350 until it rises and see how it comes out. I would imagine it would be fine but you may need to tweak it a bit!
I tried making this and it came out pretty dry and hard…. I tried to follow the recipe as close to yours as I could. I tried a Whole Wheat pancake mix if that matters. I feel like maybe it was done before the 90 seconds was up. Any suggestions?
this is sooo good!!! I felt guilty for eating something so good at night, but then I just realize it is all so healthy! thank you so much
Hi Derek, thanks so much for sharing this recipe with us. I tried it tonight and I LOVED it! 🙂
Glad you liked it Cindy! Thank you!
Tried this recipe last night and it came out great. I skipped the PB because I didn’t want the additional fats and it was still great. Thanks Derek!!
Love that Nick! Thanks for the comment
Just tried this recipe and it came out great! Tastes really good. I didn’t have FF cool whip, but I had a FF banana cream pie pudding cup so I used that instead Lol. I love the banana and chocolate flavor combination. Thanks!
You’re welcome! Thanks for liking it 🙂
What kind of effect do you think almond milk would have as opposed to water?
Hi Alex! Texture may change but I can’t see it causing any issues.
I want to figure out a way to make this without the pre-made pancake mix. I am not as concerned with speed as really knowing what is in what I make. Not that I am a “clean” eater, I just like to know.
Jim! Off the top of my head…dry milk, some flour (I’d use oat), baking powder, salt…that might net you a similar result if you play around with it. You could also try Trader Joe’s or a similar store which will have a more “natural” mix if that’s something you’re interested in!
