The healthy solution for your chocolate cravings is here, a Chocolate Protein Mug Cake! This quick microwave dessert recipe is super easy to make, guaranteed to fill you up, and absolutely delicious!

Start this recipe by taking out and coating your favorite mug with some non-stick cooking spray. Alternatively you could just use a microwavable safe bowl.

Add right into your favorite mug or bowl 1 large whole egg, 1 scoop of a chocolate protein powder, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar free chocolate chips, 1/2 of a ripe banana, 1/2 ounce of unsweetened milk substitute, 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder, pinch of salt, and 1/2 cup of unsweetened apple sauce.

Mix all of those ingredients together until everything for your chocolate protein mug cake is well incorporated.

Mixing everything together should be easy by hand as long as you used a ripe banana! If you didn’t use a ripe banana or don’t have one you can help mix it in with a fork (mash it).

Put whatever you’re using into the microwave for :30 seconds, lightly mix everything around, and microwave it again for 1 minute. Repeat these steps until your chocolate protein mug cake looks done.

Cooking time will depend on how powerful your microwave is. Keep an eye on your mug cake and remember how long it took for next time!

Want a vanilla mug cake instead? Use vanilla protein powder and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract instead of chocolate and cocoa powder.

Remove it from the microwave and optionally top it.

Toppings I’ve used in the past? Whipped cream, Greek yogurt, pudding, peanut butter, sugar free chips, sprinkles, high protein frosting, and more.

My favorite dessert is the cheesecake I make. It is high in calories so I have it for holidays.

I changed the recipe a bit to suit me, no banana, choclate chips or cocoa powder and I used vanilla protein powder instead. Even though I made a right mess of it, it tasted quite nice.

    Thanks Derek!

The best dessert I’ve ever had, is my Mom’s German chocolate cake with homemade Coconut/Pecan frosting that she put under the broiler, it got the frosting nice and yummy!
