The perfect New England tailgating recipe is here, Deflated Bacon Balls! These high protein meatballs are fun to make, packed with flavor, and guaranteed to fill you up!
All you need to do for this one is to add into a mixing bowl 2 large whole eggs, 2 tablespoons of bbq sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, 7 tablespoons of bacon bits, 2/3 cup of whole wheat bread crumbs, 1/2 cup of rolled oats, and 1 pound of either lean ground beef or turkey.
I use 93/7 but anything over 90/10 will work great for this recipe!
Mix all of those ingredients together.
Take out a baking sheet, coat it with some non-stick cooking spray, and shape your mix into your bacon balls. The bigger you shape them, the longer they’ll take to cook.
Optionally deflate these before the oven by putting an indent with your thumb into each “football” (#deflategate).
Put your balls into the oven on 375F/190C for around 20-25 minutes.
Pro tip? Add some chili sauce into your mix to give these bacon balls a kick.
After the oven you can add white football lines to them by putting some sour cream or plain Greek yogurt into a dessert decorator.
