Traditional taco Tuesday have you bored? Try some Taco Tuna Burgers! This high protein burger recipe is packed with all the right flavors, is great for meal prep, and diet friendly!
Start this recipe by draining 4 5 ounce cans of tuna and adding them into a large mixing bowl. The type of tuna you want to use is completely up to you!
Continue with 2 extra large whole eggs, 1 can of 98% fat free cream of mushroom, 1 packet of lower sodium taco seasoning mix, 8 tablespoons of wheat germ, 1 cup of chopped up celery, 1 cup of chopped up yellow onion, and 1/2 cup of rolled oats turned into oat flour.
Did you know that wheat germ is a great healthy substitute for bread crumbs in most recipes?
Turn your rolled oats into oat flour by simple processing or blending them until they look like flour.
Mix all of the ingredients for your tuna taco burgers together until everything is incorporated.
Take out a baking pan, optionally line it for easy clean up (aluminum foil or parchment paper), and coat it with some non-stick cooking spray.
Shape your burgers however big you want them, I made 6 tuna taco burgers today.
Tuna Taco Cheeseburgers
Top your burgers with some cheese (I used American singles) and put them into the oven on 400F/204C for 10-12 minutes. Keep in mind that the size of your burgers can change your cooking time.
Pro tip? You can easily switch this recipe up by using other chopped vegetables, spices, cheeses, and so on.
Add your burgers into some low carb thins, in a wrap, on some rice cakes, etc. Let us know what macro friendly ways you eat your taco tuna burgers in the comments below.
Ready for dessert? Try some Baked Apple Protein Oatmeal!
